The shape of a Rung Lab programme
Six things that consistently matter to the people who complete one of our cohorts.
Cohorts capped at twelve
Every programme runs with a maximum of twelve participants. The limit is a teaching decision, not a capacity constraint — conversation works better in a room where everyone knows who is speaking.
Designed for working schedules
Live sessions run in the evening. Office hours are offered in small groups on a flexible weekly basis. No programme requires you to suspend your work or study commitments to participate.
Instructors with field experience
The people who teach at Rung Lab have built and operated the kinds of systems they describe. Instruction is shaped by experience with real conditions, not only with documented best practice.
Your own applied project
Rather than a shared set exercise, each participant selects their own project from the beginning of the programme. The applied work connects to something in your own professional context.
Accurate description of AI tools
Sessions cover both what tools can do and the conditions under which they work less well. We do not treat current AI capability as a ceiling or as a floor — we try to describe it as it is.
Transparent pricing in Thai baht
Fees are stated clearly in THB with no additional mandatory costs beyond the programme fee. Where optional compute costs arise, we describe them before enrolment so there are no surprises.

Instruction built on field experience
There is a particular kind of knowledge that comes only from having built something, operated it in a realistic setting, and then had to account for what happened when it did not behave as expected. Rung Lab instructors have that kind of knowledge for the systems they teach.
Prapha Saengchan, who leads the computer vision programmes, spent eight years on industrial inspection systems before joining the school. Wiroj Kanjanawit taught computer science at university level for twelve years and has spent the last several years focused specifically on how practitioners — not researchers — develop working fluency with applied tools.
Practical engagement with current tools
The Computer Vision Track and Applied Vision Systems Programme cover the frameworks and workflows that practitioners are actually using. Sessions are not structured around a fixed textbook — the technical material reflects what is current and what has been found to work in realistic conditions.
Each module includes an implementation exercise. The exercise is not optional and it is not there to fill time — working through the code, hitting the friction points, and asking questions in office hours is where most of the learning happens.
Support that stays available through the programme
Small-group office hours run weekly throughout each programme. They are not optional drop-in sessions — they are a structured part of the schedule, and participants are expected to use them to raise questions from the week's work.
Between sessions, participants can reach the teaching team by email. Response times are kept to one working day so that questions do not sit unanswered long enough to block progress on a project.

Things that are specific to Rung Lab
The AI for Educators Cohort
This programme exists because no one else in northern Thailand was building something specifically for classroom practitioners who needed to understand AI tools accurately — not to build them, but to teach alongside and about them responsibly.
Chiang Mai-based, not just online
While sessions are held online for accessibility, the school has a physical space on Nimmanhaemin Road. In-person review sessions and informal gatherings happen there for participants who are based in the city.
Curriculum that reflects the current moment
Applied AI tools change quickly. We do not teach from a fixed curriculum that was last updated a year ago. Before each cohort, the instructors review what has changed and revise the material accordingly.
Honest about what you will and will not learn
Programme descriptions state what the work involves and what kinds of projects participants have completed, not what a learner is claimed to be able to do as a result. We would rather you choose a programme that fits your actual situation.

OHEC Professional Development Recognition
The AI for Educators Cohort was included in the Office of the Higher Education Commission's professional development catalogue for academic year 2024–2025.
Chiang Mai University collaboration
Several Applied Vision Systems participants have continued their project work in partnership with the Faculty of Engineering at Chiang Mai University.
Northern Thailand Educator Network
Rung Lab is a member of the Northern Thailand Educator Network, which connects independent learning providers across Chiang Mai, Lamphun, and Chiang Rai.
