Three programmes,
three kinds of learner

From educators who want clarity about AI in the classroom, to practitioners building and operating vision-based systems — each programme is designed for a specific situation and a specific kind of work.

How all three programmes are structured

Live sessions

Each module begins with a live session covering the concept and the week's implementation exercise. Sessions run in the evening and are kept to under two hours.

Implementation exercises

Every session is paired with a hands-on exercise. The exercises are designed to surface the friction points that matter — the things that only become visible when you are actually working with the tools.

Small-group office hours

Weekly office hours in groups of no more than four participants. Questions from the week's exercise, project decisions, and anything that did not fit into the session.

AI for Educators Cohort

A ten-week part-time cohort for teachers, lecturers, and education professionals who would like to develop a calm, accurate understanding of how applied AI tools may fit into their teaching practice. The cohort covers what current tools can and cannot do, careful frameworks for talking about AI with students, considerations for assessment, and a short practical project of each participant's choosing. Work is paced by the cohort, with weekly live sessions held in the evening to suit working educators.

This programme is for you if:

  • You teach at a school, college, or university
  • You want to understand AI tools accurately, not just use them
  • You need frameworks for discussing AI with students responsibly
  • You do not have a technical background and do not want one

Programme steps:

1

Weeks 1–3: What AI tools are and are not

Current capabilities, common misconceptions, and how to evaluate claims made about AI tools.

2

Weeks 4–6: AI in educational contexts

Frameworks for talking with students, assessment considerations, and institutional approaches.

3

Weeks 7–10: Your practical project

Each participant works on a short project of their own choosing, with instructor feedback and cohort discussion.

Computer Vision Track

A fourteen-week part-time track for learners who would like a paced introduction to working with image data — from classical image-processing fundamentals through to modern visual-recognition architectures and their everyday training practice. The track covers data preparation, classical and modern model families, evaluation strategies, and a small applied project on a realistic dataset. Each module pairs a live session with a small implementation exercise, supported by weekly small-group office hours. The track assumes prior comfort with Python and the foundations of machine learning.

This programme is for you if:

  • You are comfortable writing Python and understand basic ML concepts
  • You want to work with image data but have not done so systematically
  • You need structure and feedback, not just documentation to read
  • You are working alongside other commitments

Programme steps:

1

Weeks 1–4: Image data and classical methods

Representation, preprocessing, filtering, and the classical image-processing pipeline.

2

Weeks 5–10: Modern architectures and training

CNN families, transfer learning, training practice, and evaluation on realistic datasets.

3

Weeks 11–14: Applied project

Each participant works on a dataset and problem of their own choosing, with instructor review sessions.

Applied Vision Systems Programme

A six-month part-time programme for learners who would like to develop the skills required to build and operate a small vision-based system for everyday use — for example, a quality-check tool for a small workshop or a document-processing pipeline for a small office. The programme covers data collection, annotation, model selection, evaluation in realistic conditions, deployment to modest hardware, and the practical work of operating a small system over time. Each cohort completes a portfolio project of their own choosing, supported by weekly review sessions.

This programme is for you if:

  • You have a specific system you want to build and operate
  • You want to understand the full lifecycle — not just training
  • You can commit to a longer, more intensive programme
  • You are working in a practical setting (small business, workshop, office)

Programme steps:

1

Months 1–2: Data collection and model selection

Scoping the system, collecting and annotating data, selecting a model architecture appropriate to the task.

2

Month 3–4: Training and evaluation

Training the model, evaluating it in realistic conditions (not just on clean test sets), iterating.

3

Months 5–6: Deployment and operation

Deploying to modest hardware, setting up monitoring, and developing the practical routines of operating a small system over time.
